SwoopOff is a group buying site. Each day a new product or service is put on sale at a greatly discounted price. If enough people buy, the deal goes through.
We built this using Joomla and Virtuemart, with a custom template and modifications to Virtuemart including:
- Setting a start and stop date for the product. The product will automatically show beginning at midnight of the start date and will display until midnight of the stop date.
- Setting a minimum and maximum quantity to be sold. The deal does not go through until the minimum is reached and sales stop when the maximum is reached. We built messaging to the customer to explain.
- Batch credit card capture processing when the deal goes through. Batch emails to customers when the deal goes through or if the deal fails to attract enough buyers. Production of a list of customers to be sent to the supplier. Assigning of a unique, non-sequential ID number to each customer for fraud control purposes.
- The capability to have multiple, regional deals at the same time for when SwoopOff expands to new geographies.
